Week 12

Find an example of a good journalistic video on the Web. What makes this story worthy of being told through video (as opposed to still photos and/or text)? What has the creator of the video done to bring the story to life? And how might the video or story be improved? (Be sure to link to or embed the original video in your blog post.)

This video by Jon Bergmann, at TED, explains how small an atom really is. This story is worthy of being a video, because understanding these very complicated scientific terms, and measurement. Using a visual medium is the only way that an audience is going to be able to understand the point of the story. The creator has done so much to make this video interesting. Firstly, he uses animation of himself as a scientist, to facilitate the learning aspect of this video. Also, all done in animation, the video is colorful and playful, therefore, not making it a challenge to understand what he is talking about. Additionally, the editing, though fast paced, is conducive to a whimsical fun learning opportunity.To improve this story, some of the language could be less scientific, and more basic, in order to really allow a wider audience to understand each aspect of the video.
